The Tarrazú Designation of Origin is a certification that protects and distinguishes coffee grown in the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica, specifically in the cantons of Tarrazú, Dota, and León Cortés. This designation guarantees that the coffee meets high quality standards and meets specific characteristics of the area, such as its altitude, soil, and climate, assuring consumers that they are purchasing an authentic, locally sourced product.
Regenerative coffee in Costa Rica refers to a type of coffee produced through agricultural practices that seek to restore and enhance the ecosystem, especially the soil, unlike conventional agriculture, which often depletes natural resources. It focuses on soil health, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability, seeking a positive impact on the environment and farmers’ economies.
